It's been over a year into the new administration that is suppose to be more diplomatic and engage the rest of the world as partners. So far, apart from a few strong statements made from different administration officials, they have managed to keep their promise to the world and more importantly to the American people.
Now Israel seems to be stirring up things with it's closest friend. Israel's announcement of plans for new settlements in a disputed area in East Jerusalem, which was made during Vice President Joe Biden's visit to the Middle Eastern country, resulted in a stinging rebuke from Secretary of state, Hillary Clinton. She spent the next few days in Moscow waiting by the phone for a call from Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. The call finally came and Israel apologized for the timing of the announcement but plans to build 1,600 apartments in the disputed area claimed by both Israeli and Palestinians.
During Netanyahu's recent visit to Washington D.C, the low-key greeting from the White House was suggested by some political observers as a message to Israel.
